On
September 14, 2004 at the Cobb Galleria Centre, the AALA (Atlanta
Association of Legal Administrators) hosted its annual partnership
luncheon with 180 members and guests in attendance along with
70 business partners, 36 of which are also 2004 AALA vendor
sponsors. During the luncheon portion of the event, Lisa Ford
a national guest speaker presented a discussion to the members
and vendors regarding “Delivering & Leading Clients”. Also,
Michael Stephens announced the creation of the Gene Henson Foundation,
which will award a $5,000.00 annual scholarship to a local high
school student. The Foundation was named after the first chapter
president, Gene Henson, who was present during this announcement.
Part of the focus was also on the team created by AALA members
together with our vendors to raise approximately $3,500.00 for
My House at the luncheon. My House is a local non-profit organization
working with Atlanta area hospitals for the purpose of providing
a warm and loving home environment for abandoned newborns that
would otherwise spend their infancy in the cold, sterile environment
of hospitals. This team also volunteered their time and skills
to make repairs and do clean up work at My House in October.
Both before
and after the lunch portion of the event, our 70 business partners
opened the exhibit hall to the members in trade-show fashion
for the purpose of presenting the multitude of services, supplies
and equipment available today. This year our vendors made great
use of the two and a half hours of trade-show time to mingle
with our members and present their products. The AALA chapter
would like to thank our vendors who participated in this event.
The vendors
who attended this year’s event generously donated many great
gifts to be awarded to the members as door prizes at the conclusion
of the luncheon. These door prizes were an absolutely terrific
way to end the event and many of our members walked away with
some really great prizes including: a 36 inch Sony television,
two weekend getaways to Chateau Elan, a weekend hot-air balloon
trip in South Carolina, a one year lease to a 2005 Jaguar, and
a $1,500.00 scholarship to the 2005 annual ALA (Association
of Legal Administrator’s) national conference in San Francisco.
This year’s
luncheon was a complete success not only for our members, but
also for our vendors and vendor sponsors. This team will continue
to work together, not only in providing support to worthy causes
in our community, but also in making the 2005 partnership luncheon
an even greater success than ever.
